2018-2021

£9.5 million is being invested in Poole’s seafront to help meet the high demand for beach huts and conserve & improve public facilities for residents & visitors to enjoy.

This investment will enhance the coastline’s natural assets and ensure our seafront infrastructure is modern and vibrant. The projects will improve the connectivity between public spaces, creating new plazas and gardens, as well as providing new catering and commercial outlets. It will also add more than 120 additional new beach huts of various sizes & types and rebuild or refurbish more than 100 existing huts.

The programme is funded by BCP Council and supported by £1.2 million from the Coastal Communities Fund (CCF), a government grant designed to support the economic development of coastal communities. The works formed part of the ‘Dorset Coastal Connections’ portfolio of 18 projects along the Dorset coast, coordinated by the Dorset Coast Forum.

2015

During 2015 the Council invested in the creation of 63 new second-storey beach huts, and refurbished 134 existing huts to help meet the demand from local residents and generate additional income.

Flaghead Chine 2015

Alterations to 10 existing single storey brick and block beach huts to include 10 new beach huts above with projecting balconies and access stairs.

Branksome Chine West 2015

Alterations to existing brick shelter to form a total of 16 beach huts on two levels, plus a new wheelchair accessible ramp and WC, external refurbishment of existing male and female toilets.

Branksome Chine East 2015

Remove 28 existing beach huts and construct a total of 62 new beach huts on two levels, in 3 blocks, and install an access ramp from the lower promenade.
